Mind Power - Mind Power Games

Want a fun way to tune up your brain? Why not use some classic mind games to help you increase your brainpower and get you out of your thinking "ruts." Good mind games habituate you to using creative problem solving as a normal part of thinking about things.

One lateral thinking puzzle you can try right now involves nine dots, layed out three by three. You have to connect them all with four straight lines, and without lifting the pen or pencil from the paper. Figure this one out and you'll appreciate the expression "thinking outside of the box."

Mind Games For Groups

Some group mind games are especially good for long trips in a car. For example, someone looks out the window and randomly chooses an object. Everyone in the car then tries to imagine a new way to make money with it. Street signs become places to advertise, trees are sold with names, and a truck becomes a traveling grocery store.

The "change of perspective" technique can be used as a problem-solving game. Pick any topic, and see who can come up with the most unique new perspective. Could there be a world where jobs weren't necessary? How would a virus define morality if it was conscious?

Another creative game for a group uses a specific technique, called "concept combination." Simply combine random concepts or things in interesting ways, and see who has the best idea. A chair and a microwave? Maybe an easy-chair with a built-in cooler, microwave and television, or microwavable "couch potatoes" - a potato snack in the shape of a couch.

More Mind Games

Some lateral-thinking puzzles use a scenario, real or imagined, with a selection of things you have to use to accomplish something. Imagine a ping-pong ball in an iron pipe that's set in cement. The pipe sticks up two-feet high, and has almost the same diameter as the ball. With only a box of frosted-flakes, and a t-shirt, how many ways can you find to get the ball out of the pipe? You could also set this up for real, to know if a proposed solution will really work.

Riddles are just mind games or lateral-thinking puzzles. You move laterally in your mind, away from your usual line of thought, to solve a riddle. What did his friends do when the canibal was late for dinner? Gave him the cold shoulder. Keeping your brain in shape doesn't have to be a matter of serious study, does it?

Mind Power - Weight Loss - The Surprising Reasons Diets Always Have Failed And Always Will Fail

Have you been failed by diets, pills, and all the so called "weight loss miracles"?

Here's why:

In the past, when you tried to lose weight using willpower, pills, diets, or other methods, you were NOT dealing with what my experience with over 1/4 Million clients has taught me is the key to successfully shedding body fat:

Your subconscious mind.

Which science says controls 90% to 95% of your mind power! This means your subconscious is at least 800% more powerful than your conscious mind! No wonder traditional weight loss methods (which use only your conscious mind) are doomed to failure.

Please remember this fact: your subconscious mind does NOT think, it does NOT judge, it does NOT analyze.

It simply does whatever it's been programmed to do.

Frankly, whether you like the programming or not...

it still keeps the old programmed behavior going. And it POWERFULLY resists any change until you transform it's programming - - and this is why dieting is like torture for most folks, as you'll soon see.

After I explain this, some of my clients ask me: How does did my subconscious mind get this "Bad" programming regarding food and weight?

Either from repetition of certain behaviors over and over again... strong emotional responses... trauma... or from "imprinting" (taking on the characteristics of others) that occurred from watching family members, the media, etc., or any combination of the above.

Let's see how this has affected you. Right now, quickly think about your eating behavior in the past:

How many times have you eaten the wrong foods?

How many times have you eaten too much?

And how many times have you eaten at the wrong times, or eaten for emotional reasons?

That's a lot of information in your subconscious mind --just like it used to be in mine -- that tells you... urges you... teases you... tempts you... and virtually forces you to keep overeating, eating the "wrong foods", eating automatically, habitually, or eating for emotional reasons.

Have you ever heard the computer expression "GIGO"? In the computer world, it stands for "garbage in equals garbage out".

In your personal world, your subconscious mind is the equivalent of a computer. And...

The information in your subconscious is the equivalent of the "Programming" in a computer.

Just like a computer, your subconscious mind doesn't care whether the programming it's got regarding food and eating is "good" or "bad".

It's mission is simply this:

To automatically make you eat in the exact way your subconscious mind was programmed to.

No matter how badly your conscious mind may want to do the opposite! Now...

Please listen up, because....

Here's exactly how this programming sabotages and destroys most every attempt you've made to lose weight:

Let's say today is the day you are going on a diet (or trying some other "traditional" weight loss method).

You wake up.

Your conscious mind tells you to have a smaller, "healthier" breakfast than usual. It (your conscious mind) is fine with this.

However, your stomach, your hands and your mouth --all under the complete, steel-fisted control of your subconscious mind - aren't so fine.

So, while your conscious mind is saying, "okay, we've eaten enough"...

Your subconscious mind is telling you,

"HEY, I want more food...

I want more "Comfort food"...

and I want it NOW!"

But your conscious mind is still in control. So you manage to fight those cravings off... for a while... until you get to work, and see your co-worker eating one of the "unhealthy, fattening" foods that you love. (Not to mention all the jealous looks you gave to the restaurants along the way that would eagerly serve you "non-diet" food. Yup -- I've been there myself, so I know.)

So, when you see your co-worker eating, your subconscious mind demands of you... "get me some of that food... and get it to me NOW!"

But your conscious mind is still in control, so you manage to fight that craving off... hopefully...

Until... lunchtime arrives.

Now, your subconscious mind is feeling deprived.

It's been ignored. And it's upset.

So, it tells you... let's make up for the deprivation and denial you put me through earlier today. It practically screams at you: lets eat a BIG lunch.

One filled with "goodies" that you know aren't good for you. The ones that certainly won't help you lose weight, but that taste... and feel... great.

Again, your conscious mind is still desperately trying it's very hardest to stay in control. So... you fight off that (almost) overwhelming urge to eat a big, emotionally satisfying lunch. Instead, you order a smaller portion of lunch than usual. Plus, you make sure it's something "healthy to eat".

Which means that after lunch, you are left feeling...

Deprived. Upset. Anxious. Hungry. Unfulfilled.

In other words...

MISERABLE!

And this process of getting cravings, of fighting off those cravings, of not feeling filled up, of fighting off hunger pangs, of fighting off the inner urge to eat "comfort food" goes on and on and on, like a painful water torture... until finally...

Your Will-Power Cracks!

Like An Egg That Falls To The Ground, It Gets Smashed To Pieces. And then...

Your subconscious mind takes over... and boy oh boy, does it take over.

ALL CONTROL IS LOST. Your subconscious mind makes you eat too much.

Or it makes you eat the wrong things. Or it makes you eat for the wrong reasons... or ALL of the above. And it does so with a vengeance.

And how does that make you feel?

Even Worse!

And when you feel bad, that's usually a strong signal to your subconscious mind to do what???

Eat!

And if you eat even more,

you feel even worse...

which means you want to eat even more... which is exactly...

Why Diets Don't...

And (Most Often) Can't Work!

Which is why any successful weight loss system absolutely forbids deprivation dieting!

Successful weight loss (in my opinion) must:

*Use the right techniques to eliminate the old programming that connected fattening foods to pleasure... thereby eliminating the cravings for fattening foods...

* Eliminate emotional and habitual overeating...

*Tap into the hidden powers of your subconscious mind to eliminate the unconscious hand to mouth "automatic" eating behavior... while allowing you to feel completely full, satisfied and content while having eaten less food.

This way, losing weight becomes easier and more effortless than you had ever imagined possible.

Mind Power - Brain Power Through Exercise

Can you boost brain power with exercise? Several relevant studies were reported on at the annual Meeting Of The Society Of Psychophysiological Research in Montreal recently. The findings showed both immediate benefits from exercise, as well as long-term effects. Exercise seems to help your brain work more efficiently and actually make you smarter.

In one study, the thinking ability of subjects was tested. After the tests, they ran on a treadmill for thirty minutes. Then when their hearts returned to normal resting levels they took the follow-up tests. For all tests the subjects were connected to an elctroencephalogram (EEG), in order to track their brainwaves.

The first thing researchers noted was that exercising had sped up the speed of their decision-making. It was a significant difference. Upon scoring the tests, it was also found that the subjects answered more accurately after the exercise than before.

The study participants were between 18 and 24 years old, but researchers think the findings will hold true for other age groups as well. Another study showed that just ten minutes of moderate exercise each day can improve mood and reduce fatigue. Brainpower specifically wasn't tested in that study, but it seems likely that less fatigue means better brain power.

Best Exercise For Brain Power?

Most research has focused more on the duration of exercise more than on the specific type. Aerobic exercise seems to be the common element in the studies that have shown improvements in brainpower, however. It seems likely that running, bicycling, swimming, dancing and any other aerobic exercises will have the same effect.

Ten minutes of exercise is apparently enough to have effects on the brain. It's not clear how much more benefit there may be with longer exercise sessions. Interestingly, while most scientists probably expected to find brain power benefits from long-term exercise programs, the study using treadmills showed an immediate effect as well. In other words, get up and run around, and you can be smarter ten minutes from now.

Many people find that walking is one of the best ways to boost brain power. Apart from the aerobic benefits that are now being explained by recent studies, there seems to be something more. Perhaps it has something to do with the rythmic and relaxing nature of the exercise, but many people report that their clearest and most creative thinking happens when walking.

The benefits of exercise include better sleep, a healthier immune system, weight control, and a lower risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Now you can add better brain power to that list. Why not take a walk today?

Mind Power - Tapping Within Creative Mind Power - How to Mind Power to Be Creative

We all want to be able to maximize our potentials. Inside you is the capacity to create, and inside your mind is a creative power that you can harness. Tapping within creative mind power may seem esoteric to you, but it's not. Making and doing things are actually natural to the human being, simply because we have the potential to create. Tapping within your creative mind power is simple and can be done in quite a few ways.

Below are a few things you need to have or do, so you can be on your way to waking up the creative genius inside of you.

1) Awareness. When it comes to awareness, it is not a matter of being anxious or over-vigilant. Awareness is a state of knowing what is happening, whether within you or around you. Awareness is a state of being conscious of stimuli: happenings around you, happenings inside you. You have to observe yourself: your emotions, your thoughts, how you are reacting to external stimuli.

2) Immersion in beauty. If you notice, the most creative people surround themselves with beauty. If they can't, they create beauty out of their grotesque world.

3) Ability to turn stress, tragedy and crises around. The most creative people react to stress, tragedies and crises not by being depressed about it, but by moving in the other direction - turning things around, tapping into their creative strengths, and creating something beautiful from their grotesque experiences.

Tapping within your creative mind power is a matter of using these things and turning them into fuel for creativity. By being aware of your surroundings, you will notice the most beautiful parts of the environment, of life, and derive inspiration from it. By being aware of what goes on inside you, you will be able to tap into these emotions and incorporate them into what you want to create.

When you immerse yourself in beauty, you become what you are surrounded with. And when you learn to see beauty in the grotesque and be inspired from it, chances are, you may well create work in the caliber of Picasso's, Victor Hugo's, Fyodor Dostoevsky's, and all the other virtuosos of art in all its varied forms.

Tap into your creative mind power now!

Mind Power - Mind - Are You Developing Your Will Power?

Developing your will power is directly related to your success in life. No one can over-estimate the power of your will to do.

Most people do not fail because of a lack of education. History is filled with uneducated or poorly educated millionaires who didn't let this supposed shortcoming hold them back. On the contrary, what they may have lacked in education was obliterated by their overpowering will to succeed, no matter how many times they failed along the way.

It is the lack of determination and will power that is the true reason so many people fail. Just as an athlete trains for a physical game that takes concentrated effort, the mind must be trained with the proper skills to win in life.

The process of obtaining this self-mastery -- the complete command of your mind's powers -- is a gradual one. It involves determination and the daily task of making it a habit. Once you have self-mastery, the cost of obtaining it will bring a real sense of accomplishment and a realization how minimal the cost really was in the long run.

You don't need to be a genius to succeed -- just make yourself do the thing you need to do when it has to get done, whether you like it or not. This is one of the best lessons you can learn.

When Henry Ward Beecher was asked how he could accomplish so much more than others, he replied, "I don't do more, but less than others. They do all their work three times. Once in anticipation, once in actuality, and once in rumination. I do mine in actuality alone, so I end up doing things just once."

Beecher could concentrate his mind on what he was doing at a given moment. Then he'd go do something else and concentrate on his new task. One of the secrets of a successful life is the ability to focus all of our energies on one thing at a time.

Don't waste time worrying as it only crowds your thoughts with worthless clutter. Focus on what you're doing when you're doing it, and stop worry before it stops you. Worry is an energy vampire. It reduces your chances for success and it can make life miserable for those around you.

Learning to focus your efforts is the only way you will achieve the success you're capable of achieving. The earlier in life you learn this simple fact, the more likely you will overcome everything that slows you down and prevents you from reaching true success in everything you do.

Here's a recipe for a wasted life -- just go about every day trying to do too many things all at once. Splitting yourself up into a hundred little parts leads to nowhere.

Yes, there are some people who like to juggle a number of tasks, and they may be good at it, but for most of us the need to concentrate on one task at a time is imperative to getting the job done. It's not the amount of work you get done in a day or week or even a year, but it's your persistence in constantly moving forward that will get you where you want to go.

Keep at it! And remember ...

Focus, Focus, Focus.

Mind Power - Mesothelioma: A Full Spectrum Examination

Mesothelioma: A Full Spectrum Examination

Receiving much press in recent years ~ both because of the number of people affected, as well as the sometimes sensational, multi-million-dollar lawsuits that have been filed, fought, won & lost ~ is a rare form of cancer known as malignant mesothelioma, whose principle cause is exposure to aspestos fibers.

Asbestos, a known toxin since the 1930's, is an inexpensive fibrous material that is extremely durable and heat resistant. Because of these properties it was, for many years, heavily used in industry throughout the United States. Even after its carcinogenic (cancer-causing) properties were discovered, many industries continued to use asbestos, putting at risk those who were exposed to it. Asbestos-containing products remain, to this day, in buildings, ships, industrial facilities and other environments. The EPA has stated that asbestos "presents an unreasonable risk of injury to human health." Even low levels of asbestos exposure can trigger not only mesothelioma, but also asbestosis, pleural disease and lung cancer: diseases that are caused almost exclusively by asbestos. The statistics for recent years show an average of 3000 people per year dying of aspestos-related causes.

Because aspestos products have been used so heavily by industry, many people have come into contact with asbestos fibers via their jobs (e.g. via occupational exposure). There is also a risk to the family members of those working in at-risk occupations; this exposure is called paraoccupational exposure. People who live near sites that have asbestos around the facility are also at risk. Refineries, power plants, factories, shipyards, steel mills and building demolition are types of work sites that can release asbestos fibers into the environment and contaminate nearby residential neighborhoods. Mesothelioma can result from very small fibers or dust particles at low exposure levels. (Most such exposure would likely have occurred prior to 1973, but the latency period can be up to 40 years for most types of lung cancer to develop.) Trades in which aspestos exposure is likely include:

~ Asbestos product manufacturing (insulation, roofing, building, materials)

~ Automotive repair (brakes & clutches)

~ Construction/contractors

~ Maritime

~ Miners

~ Offshore rust removals

~ Oil refineries

~ Power plants

~ Railroads

~ Sand or abrasive manufacturers

~ Shipyards / ships / ship builders

~ Steel mills

~ Tile cutters

Malignant mesothelioma is the formal medical name for this form of lung cancer. (A lay term for the equivalent condition is Aspestos Cancer). Mesothelioma is the term used to describe a cancerous tumor which involves the mesothelial cells of an organ, usually the lungs, heart or abdominal organs. Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma or cancer of the lung lining is the most common form of mesothelioma cancer. Peritoneal Mesothelioma is cancer of the stomach lining and is the next most common form.

The onset of mesothelioma asbestos lung cancer is usually very slow: the time between aspestos exposure and the onset of symptoms can be many years. The most common mesothelioma symptoms are chest pain and pain in the lower back. Sometimes the pain is accompanied by difficulty breathing, coughing, weight loss and fever.

Symptoms for Pleural Mesothelioma (involving the lung / chest area) are:

~ chest pain and pain in the lower back

~ difficulty breathing

~ coughing

~ weight loss

~ fever

~ muscle weakness and sensory loss

~ swelling of the face and arms

~ hoarseness

~ coughing up blood

Symptoms of Peritoneal Mesothelioma (involving the abdominal / stomach cavity, liver, spleen or the bowel) are:

~ abdominal bloating due to fluid accumulation in the abdominal cavity

~ nausea & vomiting

~ swelling of the feet

~ fever

~ impaired bowel function

Diagnosing mesothelioma (within the framework of western medicine) can be challenging, because the symptoms are quite similar to those of other illnesses and conditions. A western medical diagnosis of mesothelioma might include any or all of the following: a review of the patient's medical history and asbestos exposure; a complete physical examination, with x-rays of the chest or abdomen and lung function test; a CAT scan or MRI of the chest or abdomen; a biopsy.

In the case of pleural mesothelioma, a thoracoscopy may be performed where the doctor looks inside the chest cavity with an instrument called a thoracoscope that is put into the chest between two ribs. The thoracoscope allows the doctor to gather tissue samples and look inside the chest. For cancer in the abdomen (peritoneal mesothelioma), a western MD may perform a peritoneoscopy where a small opening is made in the abdomen and an instrument called a peritoneoscope is inserted in the abdomen cavity to collect tissue.

If mesothelioma is indeed diagnosed, the next step will be to determine the stage of the disease. The "staging" process helps to determine which part of the body the cancer has spread to, which in turn dictates a treatment plan. If the cancer is found only on the membrane surface where it originated it is called "localized." If the has spread beyond the original membrane surface to other parts of the body it is called "advanced."

Western Medical Treatment Options (chosen in accordance with the age and/or health of the patient) include surgery, radiation therapy, and/or chemotherapy. Surgery ~ during which part of the lining of the chest or abdomen may be removed ~ is a common treatment option for mesothelioma. For pleural mesothelioma, either a full lung or the muscle below the lungs that help with breathing (the diaphragm) may be removed. Radiation therapy uses high-energy rays to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. This type of therapy only affects the cancer cells in the treated area. Chemotherapy uses anticancer drugs to kill cancer cells throughout the body. The drugs used to treat mesothelioma are sometimes given by injection in a vein. Along with surgery and radiation, using a needle or thin tube to drain fluid that has built up in the chest or abdomen is one way to relieve some of the symptoms and control the pain associated with this condition. In addition, medications may be given through a tube in the chest to prevent fluid from accumulating and, once again, reducing some of the more painful symptoms.

The physical and psychological strain of malignant mesothelioma can be severe, and western medical treatments meant to heal often cause unexpected and irritating side effects. For these reasons, it is important for the mesothelioma patient to gather as much information as possible about how malignant mesothelioma progresses as a disease, as well as to explore alternative or complementary treatment options (see below). And if a western treatment is chosen as part of the healing protocol, it's important to know what side effects to expect and how to minimize them.

Along with managing the disease itself, Mesothelioma patients oftentimes find themselves embroiled in legal battles (reminiscent of the Karen Silkwood case) ~ in class-action or individual lawsuits against the companies or corporations by whom they were employed at the time of their exposure to aspestos. Aspestos Law has emerged as a specialty, with mesothelioma attorneys and lawyers positioned to support their clients in establishing a link between a specific aspestos exposure and their subsequent contracting of mesothelioma ... and ~ to the extent that they are successful ~ taking, in the process, a handsome cut of the settlements.

Because of the physical, emotional, psychological & spiritual (as well as legal!) challenges involved with a disease such as mesothelioma, creating a strong support system is a vital part of the healing process. As has been documented from the experiences of many with so-called "terminal" illnesses, the introspection that arises in the face of such a challenge oftentimes has the "hidden benefit" of allowing what is "really important" to emerge. For this to happen, however, requires the creation of an (internal & external) environment conducive to such explorations. And what are the "building blocks" to creating such supportive (non-toxic!) environments?

Everyone can improve their energy level and promote healthy cell growth by getting adequate rest and relaxation, good nutrition, some exercise and having some fun! Here are some practices commonly recommended for cancer patients:

~ Learn relaxation techniques (yoga or qigong are an excellent choice)

~ Share your feelings honestly with family, friends, a spiritual advisor or a counselor

~ Keep a journal to help organize your thoughts

~ Find a source of spiritual strength

~ Pray or meditate

~ Find time to be alone

~ Go for walks

~ Remain involved with work and leisure activities to the extent possible

~ find a support group or "chat room" to share your experiences with others in a similar situation

~ as much as possible, maintain a positive attitude, and optimistic outlook

Of the many alternatives or compliments to western medical treatment, qigong is one that stands out as particularly hopeful. In China, there are entire hospitals devoted to the use of qigong techniques exclusively, for the treatment of cancer as well as countless other conditions. Binhui He is one Medical Qigong Master (http://www.wishus.org/research.asp?cat=research&index=2) who has had large success working with cancer patients. His qigong anti-cancer therapy protocol includes, in his own words, the following five steps:

~ Attitude change: Turn traditional searching help outside into searching help inside. It is the immune function and self-healing power that cure cancer eventually! While fear-of-cancer effect is the real incurable disease, since it keeps patient stressed and lowers their immune functions. Instead, consider cancer part of the body, communicate with it by consciousness power, and eliminate the source leading to cancer in the first place.

~ Intensive Qigong practice: empty mind without desire, forget about disease, trouble, environment and self; rapidly stimulate immune functions and body potential by intensive Qi cultivation.

~ Energetic Fasting (Bigu): Cut the supply for tumors so as to inhibit the rapid growth of cancer; and help to strengthen immune function effectively (Need under the close supervision of an experienced Qigong healer).

~ Shatter Tumor by Strong Qi: Focus of mind power and strong Qi can shatter after a period of Bigu.

~ Collective Qi Adjustment: Group practice of Five-Element Qigong to form a strong Qi field and to strengthen the inhibitory effect of the Qi cultivation.

In the United State, Dr. Kam Yuen (http://www.yuenmethod.com) is a 35th-generation Shaolin Master who has created a healing system which combines the power of qigong practice with the diagnostic techniques of applied kinesiology. He, also, has had great success working with a whole variety of conditions, including cancer.

Similar in many ways to Taoist qigong practices are the Tibetan practices described in Tulku Thondup's two books: Boundless Healing: Meditation Exercises To Enlighten The Mind & Heal The Body; and The Healing Power Of Mind. The specifics of the practices vary widely, though what many have in common is the use of an internally-cultivated energy of "blissful heat" to resolve whatever imbalances are at the root of the condition. He presents, in these two books, a number of practices designed specifically for those working with cancer. Tulku Thondup also travels quite widely, offering workshops & retreats in which he presents these Tibetan healing techniques.

Chinese Medicine offers yet another paradigm through which to examine mesothelioma. The diagnostic system of Chinese Medicine is quite dramatically different from that of western medicine. If in fact we were to present to the Chinese physician, say, ten people who had all received the western medical diagnosis "mesothelioma," it is entirely possible that this Chinese physician would ~ after his or her examinations ~ present us with a different diagnosis for each of those ten people! (The reasons for this are complex, and beyond the scope of this essay, but the basic reason is because Chinese medical perception looks at patterns present within the entire person, and in relation to every aspect of their lives; while western medicine tends to focus primarily on individual symptomotology.)

In Chinese Medicine it is understood that emotional imbalance is often a root cause of physical imbalance. The emotional state that damages the lungs (and its corresponding physical structures, which include the skin & mesothelial cells), and which also tends to appear when the lungs are out of balance, is grief. The emotional state which signals a balanced, healthy lung organ system is courage. There is also a belief, in Taoist philosophy (the root of Chinese Medicine), that the lungs are the equivalent in the human body to the atmosphere/ionosphere of the Earth. So an aspect of Chinese Medical treatment for a lung imbalance of any sort might well be to do practices to release (individual & planetary) grief ~ e.g. a "healing sounds" qigong practice ~ and to augment our feelings of courage and righteousness: our willingness and capacity to stand up strongly for Truth, for Beauty, for Love, for Kindness ... or whatever other values we hold most deeply, for ourselves, our communities and our planet.

Mind Power - The Master Key To Positive Thinking Success

Do you want to discover a secret that has the power to blow open the money flood-gates to you, to make you achieve your goals in life...whatever they maybe....in sport, relationships or whatever area you choose? Yes? then read on....

What do you own of worth in your life? Go on, run though a mental list of them in your mind right now. Let's see... maybe you have a car, part-own a house, a plasma screen, a play-station and so on...

Now, what do they all provide you with? Well a house gives you a feeling of security, a plasma screen and play station provide you with entertainment, a car with a means to move about... but let's be clear about one thing here. All these possessions can only ever have any benefit to you in the present moment - that is right now. Without a current moment in time those items are useless to you. So these items are only of use to you due to our-selves being able to experience the moment 'right now' in which we are living, breathing and experiencing.

If someone took away your television, house and indeed all of your possessions....you are still left with one thing. That is 'this very moment' in which we live, here and now. It is one of the few true things that we as individuals have in our lives - always, regardless of circumstance. In fact it may well be one of the greatest gifts we ever received as human beings.

How does any of this relate to a 'proven method for success in life' I hear you ask. Well stick with it, all will become clear in a moment. But just for the moment accept that you have just had revealed to you one of the greatest gifts ever given, and to think it has been right under your nose all this time.

Ok then, let's take this a step further...what do you do when you buy a new car? if you're anything like me you probably take it for a spin (watching out for cameras of course). If you buy a new Laptop you don't leave it in the box you take it out, plug it in and start using it.

Now, with this new awareness of the gift of 'the now' what are you going to do with it?

Remember, the gift of 'the now' is unique, each moment is different and you can never have it again. Should you not then be more careful with what you do with it?

If you were given a bottle of water to last a week, to keep you going whilst you walked through the desert, would you pollute it with unnecessary things, drop it on the sand or not give a thought to how you are going to ration and use it. Of course you would. Then why are you being so careless with the 'gift of the now' that you have been so freely provided with?

When people ask me; 'how do you do so much?' I feel like snapping back and saying; 'how do you do so little' for it is your own choice what you do with your own time. Nobody else's! . Here-in lays a great secret to achieving anything you want in life. The 'great' people do it automatically; some people partially grasp this truth whilst the vast majority of people never get close to realizing this one great truth.

So, what is it?....come closer...I want to whisper it in your ear. I want you to treat it as a secret...because everybody loves a secret.... keep it close to your chest and implement it wisely.

Here we go then.... the secret that will help you achieve anything you want in life is:

'The ability to take action NOW.'

By this I mean, consistently taking action and doing things everyday, every moment that will help you turn your life around and make it in to anything you want in life. By grasping and using this principle you will undoubtedly get to where it is you want to go, where-ever that may be and what-ever goal you may have.

However, if you prefer to procrastinate, to put things off until tomorrow, to not make the hard decisions that need to be made and to let your-self be shaped by what society thinks you should be doing and not what you actually deep down want to do, then are you ever going to be truly happy with yourself? Are you ever going to achieve anything in life?

Are you happy to look yourself in the mirror and say 'yes, I'm leading the life I really want to live' or are you spilling that precious water in the desert......because remember you can never get it back!

I'm here to tell you that every moment is precious and it is worth so much....at any given moment you have the power to change your life beyond belief, you have more power than you would ever know or realize ,. It is deeply engrained in to your soul and through this inner ability in every one of us lays the power to do more than you could possibly imagine.

Don't believe me? It only takes a second of inspiration to come up with a life changing business idea, it only takes a split second decision to quit your job and follow a new career, it only takes a glance across a crowded room to meet that life partner. Each day at each moment you can either make the decision to work towards your goals or to be passive and take the easy option and let life wash over you. The power of 'the now' is immense and available to all of us at every moment.

All things are possible at all times. It is just that most people cannot see all the possibilities from any given moment...they only see the ones that they are used too...the daily grind...the commute to work...when really it doesn't have to be that way. Try and see past it, through it and beyond...to that which you want to achieve. Then take consistent and massive action towards achieving that goal.

Mind Power - How Does Hypnosis Work

Bryan defined hypnosis as a normal physiological, altered state of consciousness, similar to, but not the same as being awake; similar to but not the same as being asleep, and is produced by the presence of two conditions:

  1. A central focus of attention, and
  2. Surrounding areas of inhibition.
The state of hypnosis thus produces three responses:

  1. An increased concentration of the mind: Usually in the wakeful state, our 'units of mind power' are scattered throughout the brain(SJ Van Pelt). Any extraneous suggestions during this stage will go scattered throughout and will be captured only by a few mind power units. In the hypnotic trance, these units of mind power are concentrated to a point that the suggestions get absorbed and retained easier.
  2. Increased relaxation of the body: Popular hypnotic induction involves the progressive muscular relaxation techniques, whereby muscle groups are tensed and relaxed gradually to achieve a fully relaxed body and mind.
  3. Increased susceptibility to suggestion: This is the outcome of the preceding 2 responses, the concentration of mind and the relaxed body. The mind, which is in a twilight zone between the wakefulness and sleep, is highly receptive to suggestions during the hypnotic state.
To further understand how hypnosis works requires knowledge about the various physiological levels of our mind: the conscious, the subconscious and the unconscious. In simple terms, these levels represent the state of wakefulness and can be re-classified thus:

  1. Alert: Normal state where your mind and body are fully awake and functioning. E.g. you are on the dance floor with your lover.
  2. Daydreaming: Light trance state. Eyes open or closed consciously. Body relaxed a bit. Breathing is relaxed and slowed, heart beat regular. A soothing feeling in mind. Withdraws into self with mild awareness of surroundings. The direction of attention is towards an imagines activity. E.g. you are idly thinking about dancing with your lover.
  3. Moderate Trance: Eyes closed, decreasing awareness of surroundings, increased awareness of heart beat and breathing, increased suggestibility and imagery. E.g. you imagine yourself on the dance floor with your lover.
  4. Deep Trance: Limbs limp. Body fully relaxed. Attention narrowed. High suggestibility. Sensory illusions possible. Auditory receptiveness and environmental awareness minimum. Creative function heightened. E.g. you physically feel yourself gyrating around with your lover!
  5. Normal Sleep: Voluntary activities suspended, reduced/absent consciousness. E.g. You dream about dancing with your lover, who may have the face of Angelina Jolie or Aiswarya Rai.:-)
The levels 2-4 are the stages of hypnotic trance, where your mind gradually shifts gear from the conscious through subconscious to unconscious level sleep. It is during these stages that one is highly susceptible to suggestions. The suggestibility varies from individual to individual. One person may be highly receptive in light trance whereas another may have to go into deep trance before achieving such a state of suggestibility.

The suggestions given during hypnotic trance are generally positive, with directions that the subject will continue to experience, say, more relaxation and increased self esteem, even after he comes out of the hypnosis. This is called post hypnotic suggestion. The post hypnotic suggestions are implanted in the subconscious and with repeated sessions, are bolstered enough to be accepted by the conscious.

Thus hypnosis and hypnotherapy is useful in behavioural modifications to get rid of undesirable character traits. During the hypnotic trance, it is even possible to induce deeper bodily responses like complete numbness of a body part or healing responses in psychosomatic diseases.

Mind Power - The Gold Mine Within You

In 2004, Professor Wiseman, an English psychologist, announced the result of an eight-year study carried out by his team. He concluded that good luck or how lucky a person becomes, depends on that person's mental attitude. In other words, the study found that consistent good attitude produced the so-called good luck in the people studied. Also, poor attitude led to ill fated results in those observed. The second conclusion by Professor Wiseman's team was that the way the mind is attuned using affirmations or positive mental declarations influenced how lucky people are. In other words, if you keep repeating to yourself that you are a success which in itself is an affirmation, you are bound to succeed.

That same month of May, there was the unusual story of one Mr. Tokoyumi, a 96 year-old Japanese student, probably the oldest university student in the world! Some curious inquirer asked Toyokumi his longevity secret and he replied in just two words'Positive Attitude.

One afternoon in April 2004, I was thinking of how to contact my wife when my phone rang and guess who was on the line-my wife, of course. But the interesting part was when she asked: "Did you try to phone me?" and I replied: "No, but I was only thinking of calling". We both laughed.

Now what do you find common to all three stories I have just told you? Just one thing-the power of the mind or what I have popularised as MIND POWER, which I developed over the years into a philosophy. Most people are unaware about the enormous power of their minds. Do you realise that there is a gold mine lying dormant within you?

What is the mind? You may ask. Some psychologists describe the mind as the active and spiritual nature in man, which utilizes the brain and the nervous system to express itself. Basic human functions as reasoning and perception among others are all mental processes for which the mind has been equipped.

However there is something more important than these. Man has evolved over the generations to become the king of all creatures. But for his superior mental ability, he would have stood no chance of survival against such ferocious and powerful animals like the lion, tiger, leopard, elephant and others. Based on physical strength alone, the human race would have been wiped out millions of years ago. Man's sovereignty over creation has been aided by the use of the most powerful weapon available to him, his mind. Even the Holy Books of the world's two great religions, Christianity and Islam, acknowledge this human dominance. Reference is made to this fact in the Holy Bible's Genesis and the Koran's suras 18, 25 and 35.

Mankind has come a very long way in terms of progress measured materially and intellectually. Yet, many of us continue to impose iron clad limitations upon ourselves. Some of us adopt a fatalistic view of life, ascribing our failings and misfortunes to divine manipulation. No one should in fact place a ceiling over his head as to how much he can achieve in life. Each one of us should use the greatest gift we were given at birth, our mind. Use it to discover what you are best at and then go for that thing and excel in it. Certainly, there is that gold mine in you, waiting to be mined. For some, they are already doing this and would easily appreciate this message. No one should ever place artificial ceiling over his or her head.

It follows therefore that the only limitations we face in attaining success are those we impose upon ourselves. Those limitations are purely mental, but then they manifest physically. Therefore in order to liberate ourselves from the shackles of self imposed limitations, we must start from the mental realm, where the gold mine is lodged within you. Here the philosophy of Success through Mind Power described step-by-step in the book and can be easily followed. You are guaranteed success.

Mind Power - Use Mind Power - Revealed- The 3 Ways You Make Your Beliefs Come True

You have probably already heard that what you believe is what you will see in your life. But do you really believe that to be true? After all aren't you the victim of circumstance. The answer is no! You use mind power to make your beliefs come true.

If you are able to become clear on your beliefs and understand how they affect your life you can make decisions about whether some of your beliefs are helpful to you or not.

You may not be aware of it, but you have literally thousands of beliefs about all areas of your life. You use them all the time when you are processing the information that comes in through your senses and the information that is generated by your thought processes.

Some of your beliefs will have been acquired during your childhood when you were strongly influenced by your parents, other adults, and your peer group. Many of these beliefs can be very limiting. These early beliefs can also be buried deep in your subconscious mind and you may not be aware that you still hold them or that you are using them.

You may believe that you are a victim of circumstances when you experience failure or something goes wrong in your life. Circumstances are external to you and are hard for you to change and this can lead to a feeling of not being in control of your life.

To some extent circumstances may affect your life, but you should not look outside for the cause of your troubles. It is more likely that your beliefs had a large part to play in the challenges that you are experience.

Understanding how you use your beliefs both consciously and unconsciously to create your world will help you to understand that you have more control over your life than you thought possible. Your beliefs are just conclusions that you have drawn about the world based on some past evidence. You can use mind power to change them.

The 3 ways you make your beliefs come true

1.Beliefs control your actions. As you receive inputs from the outside world you decide how you are going to respond. An important part of that decision making process is how you believe you should respond.

For example, if you believe that you should not display any emotions when you find yourself in circumstances that are highly emotionally charged, where everyone else is displaying emotions, you may remain completely impassive. The consequence of this is that you may find that people view you as cold, passive, aloof... So you have created a set of beliefs in other people as a result of your belief. The beliefs held by other people will be used by them when they make future decisions about you...

2. Beliefs affect the way that you set your "internal radar". Your internal radar is a key element of your mind power. It is the way that you filter incoming information and the decisions that you make about that information. These decisions lead you to notice and become attracted to certain specific circumstances. Your beliefs have a strong effect on the setting for your internal radar.

If you believe that the colour of the new car you want to buy should be red, you will start noticing red cars on car lots, in showrooms, on the road. You will be less likely to notice other colors and you will be likely to end up buying a red car.

3. You can selectively filter and distort the inputs you receive from the outside world to match your beliefs.

An extreme example of this is people who are delusional, believing something that is patently untrue about the world. They believe it and are convinced of it, but we all know it's not true. You do this all the time on a smaller scale. For instance, you may experience a situation as hostile or a friendly while someone else may hold exactly the opposite view depending on their beliefs.

You've seen how you use beliefs to create your own reality. By understanding the powerful control that beliefs exert over your mind, you will see that your circumstances are often much less important than your beliefs in determining your success in life. The good news is that you can use mind power to change your beliefs!

Mind Power - Subliminal Mind Power - A Warning about Subliminal Mind Power

The main characteristic about subliminal mind power is that it always works in stealth mode. They are messages which basically bypass the reasoning ability of the conscious mind and go straight into your subconscious. So, it is one of the methods which can influence your subconscious mind without you even knowing about it. This also means that it can be dangerous in the wrong hands. This article is about informing you as to how this can be done.

For instance, it is known to be used in advertising by major corporations. I don't want to name any of them in this article, but you can just do an Internet search and you will find many examples of this. One of the ways this is done is in product packaging. The subliminal image or text is embedded with the other elements of the package. In most cases the subliminal message targets one of our most powerful emotional responses - our sexual urge. It's all about making us subconsciously want the product more...

Around 40 years ago, many western countries including the United States actually banned subliminal advertising. But according to the 'conspiracy theories', it is still done. I don't think many of us can say for sure though.

Even in self-improvement products, we can never really say what the subliminal Cd's are actually doing. Of course, there will be many companies which create ethical subliminal Cd's. We can just never really say for sure. That's why it is always better to pay a little extra and get software's that allow you to create your own custom made audios etc. You should keep that in mind...
